The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus says fans should be worried

What lies ahead for Daryl?

Although the season finale for The Walking Dead airs next weekend, last night's episode may have caused a few panic attacks for fans of the show.

Norman Reedus, who plays beloved character Daryl Dixon, was once again front and center. For those who haven't seen the episode yet, consider this your official spoiler warning.

The episode ends with Dixon being shot by Dwight, the latter promising he'd be alright, before the credits started rolling. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reedus said that while he couldn't confirm whether Daryl was dead or not, fans should be "very worried" about the character.

Reedus acknowledged that the show's writers have a way of throwing fans for a loop, but said with the impending entrance of Negan, one of the series' vilest villains, and the promise of one main character biting the bullet, there was a good chance it could be him.

"There's so many people who watch this show, so someone is going to get it right," Reedus said. "One of these [fan] theories is going to be right."

When asked if he would be OK with Daryl going out with being shot by Dwight, Reedus said that he didn't think he'd ever be happy with being written off the show. Especially, he argued, after not getting the same amount of screen time in the past few seasons as other actors have.

"I can't say that I would be happy. I can't say that I would not understand but you see what happens and he does get shot," he said. "It's his blood that's on the camera."

The Walking Dead's season six finale airs next Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
