The Ghostbusters return in the reboot's first trailer

They ain't afraid of no ghosts

After months of teasing images, Sony Pictures has finally released the first trailer for its upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. That trailer can now be seen above.

The film, which was announced by director Paul Feig on Twitter back in October 2014, stars Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Chris Hemsworth. Both McCarthy and Wiig have worked with Feig previously on films like Bridesmaids, Spy and Heat.

After Feig announced the film was happening, and being produced by iconic producer Amy Pascal, fans were given their first unofficial look at the new characters in costume last June. It wasn't until July, however, that Sony and Feig released the first official photo of the cast in their ghost busting uniforms.

Despite more photos being released every few months, details on the movie are still scarce. It was only recently confirmed that the new pack of Ghostbusters would be taking on old-time gangsters, Revolutionary War spirits and other disgruntled ghosts from New York City's past.

While the new Ghostbusters will certainly differ from those in the original film, which starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis, some of the vehicles will be similar. Last year, Feig showed off images of a slightly updated Ecto-1 station wagon and a slightly more modern proton pack.

Ghostbusters will hit theaters July 15.
