Dead Island collection for PS4 and Xbox One coming in May (update)

Three games in one re-release

The first two Dead Island games —  Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide — are coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to listings from retailer Best Buy. Dead Island Definitive Collection, the listing says, will be available May 31.

The collection will also include a third game titled Dead Island Retro Revenge. The game is described as a "brand new stand-alone 16-bit game set in the style of a classic side-scrolling action/endless runner within the Dead Island universe."

As for the the "definitive" designation, the listing notes that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the games are "fully remastered" and contain all downloadable content and patches released to date.

The original Dead Island was released on PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 in 2011. The follow-up, Riptide, was released in 2013. A sequel, Dead Island 2 from developer Yager, was revealed by publisher Deep Silver at E3 2014. That game has since been delayed and Yager has been taken off the project.

Update: Deep Silver confirmed the upcoming release of Dead Island Definitive Collection in an announcement trailer. The trailer has been posted above.
