Watch 15 minutes of gameplay from Metroid Prime: Federation Force

Space Pirates!

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a first-person shooter from Nintendo and Next Level Games. The game puts you in the role of a Marine, sent by the law-keeping Galactic Federation on a series of dangerous missions. You can run through it single-player, or with four-player co-op like we do in this video.

In this series of missions, we deal fiery death to some Space Pirates and destroy an enemy power station. The pirate ship mission has mechanics similar to Blast Ball, which you might remember from the Nintendo World Championships. The enemies bombard us with wave after wave of projectiles.

In the planet-side mission, we take the squad into the grimy depths of a power station. Enemies and environmental hazards are around every corner, but there are some cool interactions between squad members, too. Watch us rescue one of our buddies during the battle in the power station's flooded core.

The game offers a variety of weapons. I'm a fan of the torpedoes myself, but keep an eye out for some other cool options.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force will come out in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS.
