Mythbusters gets revived by Science Channel, will have entirely new hosts

You could be one of them!

Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman's longtime running series, Mythbusters, officially went off the air on Discovery earlier this month, but the show isn't quite dead just yet.

Science Channel, a division of the Discovery network, has plans to bring the experiment-driven show to their station, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Before the series starts up again, however, the channel will host a reality show to find new, charismatic hosts.

Search for the Next Mythbusters will feature 15 competitors tackling both older myths that Jamie and Adam may have come across during their 14 seasons on air, as well as new myths that have yet to be busted. Like most reality shows, contestants will be eliminated week after week as voted on by a panel of judges. The judges, who have yet to be announced, will all have had previously worked with the former Mythbusters team in some way or another.

Mark Etkind, general manager of the Science Channel, told The Hollywood Reporter that he was unsure if they were going to go with multiple hosts, two hosts or one host, but would make that decision as the reality series went on. If there were a few people who had great on-screen chemistry, having multiple hosts would certainly be an option, Etkind said.

The channel is currently asking those interested in auditioning to be on the show to send in a tape of their best myth-busting ideas. Candidates shouldn't be afraid to get hands on with different projects, and should show off their inquisitive side. More information about the competition can be found here.
