Christian Bale, star of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, recently expressed disappointment with his performance in an interview.
Bale, whose version of the superhero was darker than previous takes, told Yahoo Movies that while he was happy with Nolan's films, he wasn't satisfied with his own performance. Bale said that he had an idea of what he wanted to accomplish with the iconic character, and the end result was different than what he had originally hoped for.
"My own sense of self is like, 'I didn't quite nail it,'" Bale said.
Bale added that he felt his performance was made duller by the late Heath Ledger's phenomenal approach to the Joker in The Dark Knight.
"Heath turned up, and just kind of completely ruined all my plans," Bale said. 'Because I went, 'He's so much more interesting than me and what I'm doing.'"
In a previous interview, Bale said he was excited to see what Zack Snyder had done with the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and trusted Ben Affleck, who will play the titular superhero in the film, to pull off the role.
Batman v Superman lands in theaters March 25.
