Video games, movies, TV and comic books get in on the joke

It's that time of year again: April Fools' Day. It's a day that everyone, from brands to the people who work for brands to social media managers, looks forward to. Everyone loves a good April Fools' Day stunt, including the entire staff of Polygon, who have been excitedly anticipating the annual event for the past 364 days (we momentarily put our excitement on hold on Feb. 29).

Below, we've collected some of the best and worst gags, jokes, pranks and goofs from video game publishers, movie and television studios, tech companies and merch-makers. Which is which is up for you to decide.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - All about Roach

The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Geralt's mount, Roach — including an interview with Roach's voice actor.

League of Legends: That's so Draven

Riot Games is Draven-ing up the game, putting the character's head on every skin, a limited-time visual gag. The League of Legends developer is leaning in hard on this one, running various "League of Draven" promotions until April 11. More at the official website.

Introducing the Frostdoge Clan

Blizzard is keeping doge meme jokes alive with a new faction in World of WarcraftThe Frostdoge Clan.

A community of peaceful descendants of the Frostwolf clan, the Frostdoge clan secretly inhabits the snowy expanses of Frostfire Ridge. Its members have transcended their ferocious nature to achieve true enlightenment, aided by the powerful influence of the mysterious—and seemingly worthless—€”Chunks of Dogestone.

Blizzard is also making a spinoff of its competitive card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft into an MMO. And bringing reality television to World of Warcraft.
