New Wonder Woman set photos capture a key moment

Plus, first look at Robin Wright in action

Wonder Woman is still more than a year away from being released in theaters, and although an official trailer has yet to be seen, there are now new photos from the set of the film to hold fans over.

The photos, which can be seen below, were taken while the cast and crew filmed in Italy and focus on the origin of Wonder Woman's character. There are also some shots of Robin Wright's recently announced General Antiope, so for those looking to stay clear of spoilers, consider yourself warned.

In some of the photos, Wonder Woman — played by Gal Gadot — can be seen rescuing Steve Trevor, her love interest in the film who's played by Chris Pine, from the ocean shores of Themyscira. It's an essential moment in Wonder Woman's origin story as it introduces her to the outside world and ignites her newfound mission to help humanity on Earth.

The photos also show off the Amazons taking on a group of unidentifiable soldiers, alongside Wright's General Antiope. Wonder Woman can be seen in the photos, sporting the infamous golden chest plate.

Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, is the third movie in Warner Bros. and DC's cinematic universe. It's scheduled to be released June 23, 2017.
