HBO has released two new clips from the upcoming season six premiere of its flagship series, Game of Thrones, that focus entirely on Jamie, Cersei, Theon and Sansa.
Although there isn't anything too spoiler heavy in either of the clips, the context for each will contain descriptions of events that transpired during the fifth season's finale. Consider yourself warned.
In the first clip seen above, Jaime is trying to console a grieving Cersei over the loss of their daughter, Myrcella. Myrcella, who was poisoned by the former lover of Prince Oberyn, Ellaria Sand, died during last season's finale, but was somewhat overlooked because of the other deaths that occurred within the hour.
In the scene, Cersei (played by Lena Heady) asks Jaime (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) if he remembers when he saw his first dead body and then dives into a monologue about when she saw their mother's body for the first time after she died. It's a powerful performance from Heady, who manages to nail the distraught look of a woman whose lost just about everything.
The second clip moves away from King's Landing and heads to the North where Sansa (played by Sophie Turner) and Theon (played by Alfie Allen) are on the run. Last season, the two made their escape from the vicious Ramsay (played by Iwan Rheon) who had overtaken the Starks' property. There's no dialogue in the scene from either character and instead, the clip focuses entirely on the two running wildly through the forest.
These clips don't provide any insight into the biggest question fans of the show have over the status of Jon Snow, who was last seen lying dead at Castle Black after a big battle. That predicament should be cleared up when the episode airs in a couple of weeks.
Game of Thrones' sixth season premieres April 24 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
