DayZ creator unveils new shooter strategy game Out of Ammo

RocketWerkz's 'intense virtual reality strategy game' now in Steam Early Access

The debut title from RocketWerkz, the studio DayZ creator Dean Hall founded in 2014, is available today on Steam Early Access. The game is called Out of Ammo, and is an "intense virtual reality strategy game" designed for SteamVR and the HTC Vive.

Out of Ammo is part strategy game, part shooter, with a stylized, blocky aesthetic. Players take on waves of enemy soldiers, deploying defenses and issuing orders, and can possess units to assume direct control. It's exclusive to HTC Vive, according to its Steam listing.

RocketWerkz says it expects its new game to be in Early Access for two to six months: "We've put together a fun an intense experience but we need community feedback to refine the experience and better explore what virtual reality can offer for the game. Early access allows us to develop the game until it as polished and intuitive as it can be."

Currently, the game has five playable units (rifleman, sniper, engineer, rocketeer and medic) and four environments (woodland, urban, desert and alpine), though RocketWerkz says it is "already working on new environments and content" for Out of Ammo.

You can see the game in action in the debut trailer above.

Hall announced his studio was working on a Steam VR title last year. Hall is also working on Ion, a "massively-multiplayer online game in which players will build, live in and inevitably die in player created galactic constructions." You can watch the announcement trailer for Ion in the video below.
