Battlezone 98 Redux, the remaster of the PC classic from nearly 20 years ago, has a launch date. It's today. Right now, even.
The developers of the original game are behind this remaster, which is going for $19.99 on Steam. Battlezone on PC was a real-time strategy/first-person shooter hybrid that took its name from Atari's arcade title from the 1980s. Rebellion, the game's publisher, acquired the Battlezone franchise in 2013.
In addition to announcing the game's launch, Rebellion said it has more remasters coming under "redux" branding, but didn't specify further.
Battlezone 98 Redux is the first third-party developed title that Rebellion has published. The Oxford, U.K.-based studio is well known for its Sniper Elite franchise whose newest edition, Sniper Elite 4, is coming sometime later this year to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
