Here's the first look at Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa from the Power Rangers movie

All the green

Elizabeth Banks will take on the Power Rangers next year, and the first image of her as the villainous sorceress Rita Repulsa has arrived.

The photo, which is exclusive to Entertainment Weekly, showcases Banks in a green costume, with extended gold fingertips and a gold plating framing her face. There are white markings on her forehead and her hair has also been dyed green.

The costume is a little different from the version used in the series from the 1990s. Her headgear is a little lighter and more elegantly designed to present a more whimsical take on the look, for example. There's also green rope threaded throughout her ensemble that is definitely a new take on the costume.

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Rita Repulsa is an otherworldly witch with plans for total domination of the Earth. During an interview with People magazine, Banks said that she was pleased with the new look, and called it a much edgier take on the character. When asked what she was most excited about, she said that having never played a villain, she couldn't wait for "world domination."

The Power Rangers movie hits theaters March 24, 2017.
