Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment's Blade Runner sequel will come to theaters Oct. 6, 2017, Variety reported. Originally scheduled for Jan. 12, 2018, the movie will take the spot in Warner Bros.' release calendar previously held by Jungle Book.
Jungle Book, directed by Andy Serkis, won't premiere until a full year later, on Oct. 19, 2018. News of the scheduling change came earlier this month, when Warner Bros. also announced a new date for Wonder Woman. The Amazonian superhero will make her theatrical debut on June 2, 2017.
Warner Bros. said at the time that an "untitled event film" would take Jungle Book's place in the schedule. 2017's take on Blade Runner, starring Ryan Gosling and original star Harrison Ford, apparently fits the bill.
Dennis Villeneuve is directing the new Blade Runner, with original scribe Hampton Francher co-writing the script.
