Square Enix's Chrono Trigger-inspired I Am Setsuna coming to PS4 and PC in July

Be transported back to the 'golden era of JRPGs'

The first game from Square Enix's Tokyo RPG Factory, I Am Setsuna, will come to PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via Steam July 19, the publisher announced today.

I Am Setsuna draws its artistic and gameplay inspirations from classic Japanese role-playing games, Square Enix says. The company has specifically called out Chrono Trigger, Square's 1995 RPG for the Super Nintendo, as a key source of inspiration — though it supposedly also draws upon other games from the "golden era of JRPGs."

Square Enix released new images and a new trailer for I Am Setsuna today, and offered the following synopsis of its narrative:

I Am Setsuna tells the sorrowful story of Setsuna, a young woman of incredible inner strength, and the sacrifice she must undertake to the save the people of her land. Players will be immersed in an emotional and unforgettable story of true bravery as Setsuna leaves her hometown with her bodyguards on a journey to the farthest land.
