SNK Playmore is now just 'SNK'

The home of Neo Geo, Metal Slug and King of Fighters gets back to its roots

SNK Playmore is simplifying its logo, the company announced today, dropping the "Playmore" and returning to developer-publisher's SNK roots. The company, which is behind the Neo Geo, Metal Slug, Fatal Fury and King of Fighters brands, calls the change part of "SNK's revival."

SNK said that in addition to renewing its logo, the company is also bringing back its old slogan, "The Future Is Now." That will be the company's new corporate message, according to SNK.

Originally founded in 1978, SNK Corporation closed in 2001. Its assets were acquired by Playmore, which later became SNK Playmore. Last year, Chinese investors purchased an 81.25 percent stake in SNK Playmore with the intention to more aggressively expand SNK's intellectual property.

SNK will release The King of Fighters 14 for PlayStation 4 this August through publisher Atlus.
