Xbox One owners can now join the battle between DC's superheroes and villains in DC Universe Online, which is available to download on Microsoft's current-gen platform as of today.

Daybreak Game Company announced that the massively multiplayer online superhero game and its 23 episodes are available right now from the Xbox Store. The free-to-play game won't feature cross-platform play with PC players on Xbox One, unlike its PlayStation 4 counterpart. DC Universe Online on Xbox One requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play.

DC Universe Online was first released in 2011 on PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. A PS4 version arrived in 2013. Daybreak confirmed the Xbox One version of DCUO back in January.

The game's developer, Daybreak Game Company, was previously known as Sony Online Entertainment. Sony sold off the studio in 2015, and Daybreak immediately signaled it would bring its games to Xbox platforms.
