Today, Blizzard released the second in a series of animated shorts for Overwatch, an episode titled "Alive," this time focusing on the assassin Widowmaker. In addition to showing off Widowmaker's skill with a sniper rifle, it sets the stage for the conflict behind the upcoming hero-based shooter.
"Alive" is set in London's King's Row, the backdrop for one of Overwatch's maps, and co-stars the hero Tracer. Widowmaker and Tracer faced off previously in the game's debut cinematic teaser, though the stakes seem a bit higher this time around.
Blizzard released Overwatch's first character-focused animated short, "Recall," last week. That one featured the genetically engineered gorilla Winston. Blizzard plans to further flesh out the fiction of Overwatch with additional videos, digital comics and a graphic novel, Overwatch: First Strike.
Overwatch is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on May 24. An open multiplayer beta kicks off May 5, though pre-ordering Overwatch grants early access to that beta test on May 3.
