Disney Crossy Road launches today for mobile devices

Which of your favorite childhood characters will survive?

Disney Crossy Road — a new, Disney-themed version of the "endless Frogger"-style game Crossy Road — is launching today for mobile devices, Hipster Whale announced.

The game will include nine worlds based on Disney and Pixar properties, with more than 100 characters. Each of the worlds, which span The Lion King, Toy Story, Inside Out and more, will feature different challenges and music based on their respective setting. According to Disney associate producer Travis Marshall, the team wanted to offer support across Disney's entire portfolio, from its classic characters like Mickey to attractions such as The Haunted Mansion.

"Disney prides itself on is being fun for all ages," Marshall told Polygon. "We like to touch all demographics, and Crossy Road is something everyone can have fun with, no matter the age. We were able to touch from all of our franchises, some of our ones that maybe only adult audiences are more familiar with and we'll get younger audiences to buy into, and so it's really going to help get everyone exposed to our great IP that we've done over the years.

"Not a lot of games actually use our attractions, so that's one thing that we plan to incorporate more into future updates."

Hipster Whale and Disney announced the crossover title in March; it's available through the App Store, Google Play, Windows Store and Amazon Appstore. The developers plan to continue expanding the game with new worlds and figurines. For more on the original Crossy Road, check out our feature.
