Charlize Theron will star in Fast and Furious 8, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Oscar winner and Mad Max: Fury Road actress will play "some sort of villain role," THR said.
Theron joins a cast of returning Fast and Furious actors like Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez. F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) will direct the action film, which arrives in theaters April 14, 2017.
Universal Pictures released Fast and Furious 7 last year; it went on to become one of the highest grossing films of all-time. In November, series star Vin Diesel said that spinoffs were currently in the works. He later revealed in February that the ninth and tenth films in the franchise have been scheduled for 2019 and 2021, respectively.
