Romancing SaGa 2 coming stateside for first time ever

Smartphone port for "overseas emperors"

The Super Nintendo-era role-playing game Romancing SaGa 2 is coming stateside, according to the game's official Twitter. An English-language version of the game is currently in development on iOS and Android.

Romancing SaGa 2's worldwide debut remains unscheduled. Japan received mobile ports of the game in late March; Square Enix also published the remastered release on PlayStation Vita.

More information about the release will come later this month, according to the game's Twitter. In the meantime, it offered a first look at the game's English debut.

The RPG made its debut on Super Famicom in December 1993. Its predecessor, 1992's Romancing SaGa, similarly stayed put in its native country until 2005, when Square Enix published a PlayStation 2 remake in the West.

Romancing SaGa 2's release will mark the first time a SaGa game has made it stateside since 2003, when Unlimited SaGa launched on PS2.
