AMC and the Topps Company have partnered together to release a series of physical and digital trading cards that will bring exclusive content and never-before-seen images to fans of its most popular series, The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead: Card Trader, Topps' digital app, will offer new cards daily for players to download that cover the entire history of the show. To celebrate the launch of the app, Topps is offering new players one limited-edition card a day from the new set over the course of a week. Topps will also make cards from AMC's spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead, available to players as well.
"We are thrilled to be working with Topps to bring both great physical card products and an innovative digital app to our The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead fan base," said Theresa Beyer, senior vice president of brand activation for AMC.
The physical trading card set will be available starting in the fall, and will focus primarily on the show's fifth season. In each box of cards, players will receive two special items, including autographs from the cast, artist sketches and "relic cards," which include actual set-worn costume pieces. In December, the card trading company will release a premium edition version, called The Walking Dead: Survival Box. Topps described the Survival Box version of the game as the "first ever high-end trading card set," although no other details were given.
The Walking Dead: Card Reader is now available to download for free on both iOS and Android devices.
