Riverdale gets series order at The CW

Archie, Reggie, Veronica, Betty and Jughead, too!

The new teenage drama that takes a modern approach to Archie Andrews and his gang of friends, Riverdale is the latest show to get a series order at The CW. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Riverdale was one of four shows ordered to series at the network, and will join the recently moved Supergirl on the network's fall lineup.

In November, concept art for the show was released, which pictured the radical changes the crew had undergone for the series. These details were broken down even further in the individual character profiles for the series, which included the fact the Jughead is hearing-impaired, Betty is struggling with a drug addiction and Veronica would be Latina.

Riverdale marks executive producer Greg Berlanti's fifth show on The CW, alongside Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash and Arrow. Although most of the actors cast as the different characters are relatively fresh, Cole Sprouse, best known for his work on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, will play the "emo-heartthrob" version of Jughead.

Riverdale will premiere during The CW's fall season, but no official airdate or time has been given. More information is expected to be revealed next week during the network's television upfront conference panel.
