Disney Interactive released today a free virtual reality experience based on several of the studio's recent blockbusters. Disney Movies VR is now available to download on Steam for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift headsets.
Among the worlds available in the app are those based on The Jungle Book, Captain America: Civil War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Contrary to the name of the download, the films themselves aren't open for VR headset owners to peruse. Instead, the app features short, fully immersive scenes drawn from the films. Still, it's a new way to get up close and personal with some of the studio's most successful recent movies.
This is Disney Interactive's first published game since Disney closed down its development house, Avalanche Software, last week. The developer for Disney Movies VR is listed as Walt Disney Studios, not one of its former internal game development teams.
