Walking Dead attraction at Universal Studios set to open in July

Plus, a video detailing what visitors can expect

The Walking Dead attraction at Universal Studios that's been a Halloween staple of the amusement park for a couple of years will finally be open all year round starting July 4.

The theme park company released a video today detailing what visitors of the exhibit can expect to experience out of the revamped attraction. Greg Nicotero, legendary FX artist and one of the principal artists on The Walking Dead TV series, talks about the new attraction in the video above, and how they went about moving moulds for the zombies from the set of the show to the theme park.

"After six years of working on The Walking Dead, we have a great opportunity to take The Walking Dead out of the studio, off the soundstage and into an attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood where guests can come face-to-face with walkers," Nicotero said. "We're creating animatronic walkers that guests will be able to see... it's never been done before... it's one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art... and I can't wait."

The Walking Dead's seventh season will premiere later this fall.
