Beauty and the Beast trailer tops Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Captain America in views

Emma Watson takes all

The new teaser trailer for the Emma Watson-starring Beauty and the Beast live-action film has beat out Star Wars: The Force Awakens for most views in a 24-hour period.

Within 24 hours, Disney's teaser trailer for Beauty and the Beast racked up 91.8 million views, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In comparison, The Force Awakens' second teaser trailer garnered 88 million views, with the teaser trailer for Captain America: Civil War coming in third at 61 million views. The fourth and fifth spots went to The Force Awakens for an earlier trailer at 55 million views and The Avengers: Age of Ultron at 34 million views.

To put it simply, if your movie is coming out of Disney, there are probably going to be a lot of eyes on the first, second and third trailers.

The first teaser trailer for the live-action adaptation of Disney's classic 1991 film doesn't give too much away, but does provide the first glimpse of Watson as Belle. The film also stars Dan Stevens as the Beast and a cast of A-list actors, including Emma Thompson, Ian McKellan, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Ewan McGregor.

Directed by Bill Condon, Beauty and the Beast will hit theaters March 17, 2017.
