Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams is celebrating his Star Wars Day (May 4, per the Gregorian calendar) in style. Earlier today, he joined Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, fresh off several Tony Award nominations and a Pulitzer Prize for Hamilton, to perform Miranda’s cantina song from the seventh Star Wars film.
J.J. Abrams joins Hamilton star for what might be the best Star Wars Day video yet
Watch a live performance of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s song from The Force Awakens
Well, Miranda doesn’t deserve all the credit for it. He composed the track, which plays in the background of The Force Awakens, but Abrams confirmed in January that he and the Hamilton star both sang lead on the tune.
Watch the video above of the pair’s live reunion. It’s the latest of the regular “Ham 4 Ham” performances the cast of Hamilton put on before each show. Just try to temper your jealousy for everyone who got to see Abrams and Miranda’s duet in person.
The song will soon be streaming on the Star Wars website and is now up for download on iTunes.
