Mighty No. 9 has launched, kind of, and it's not exactly going smoothly, with many reported glitches and issues with the DLC. Even when it's working, reviews seem to suggest it's not worth getting excited about.
"But again, we can hope that if things go well, there'll be sequels," creator Keiji Inafune said during a livestream, as reported by Vice. "Because I'll tell you what, I'm not getting my 2D side-scrolling fill. And at the end of the day, even if it's not perfect, it's better than nothing."
The official Sonic the Hedgehog account tweeted the following in response:
Congrats on the launch, @MightyNo9!

That's a brutal response to an unfortunate game launch, especially considering Polygon editors and writers responded to my question about the last good Sonic game with the cold, dead eyes of the long betrayed.
And now the Sonic Humble Bundle is live, with Sonic 4 Ep 1&2 to remind you that sometimes nothing really is better.
