After changing the location of the show not once, but twice, Adam Reed's animated series, Archer, has been renewed for three more seasons, FX announced today.
The show just wrapped its seventh season a few weeks ago, but will return for an eight-episode eighth season in early 2017, FX presidents of original programming Nick Grad and Eric Shrier said. Two more eight-episode seasons will follow, presumably in 2018 and 2019, but neither Grad nor Shrier confirmed those dates.
It looks like the next few seasons will continue to focus on the changes made to the show in season seven. Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) is no longer an international spy based out of New York City, but rather a detective at The Figgis Agency in Los Angeles. Together with his fellow co-workers, including Lana Kane (voiced by Aisha Tyler), Pam Poovey (voiced by Amber Nash), Cheryl (voiced by Judy Greer) and his mother, Mallory Archer (voiced by Jessica Walters), the team digs into the nitty, gritty underworld of L.A. while still managing to keep up their childish antics.
The renewal also marks a new overall production deal between FX and Reed's Floyd County Productions.
