Virtual reality developers are getting their own conference

The GDC event is moving out on its own this fall

The Virtual Reality Developers Conference will return later this year for its second edition. First attached to the 2016 Game Developers Conference, the VRDC will instead run as a stand-alone event this November.

From Nov. 2-3, VR faithful ranging from artists to audio professionals will gather in San Francisco to talk shop. There will be a show floor with exhibitors, much like the standard GDC event, and speakers can submit their talks now.

An advisory board comprising members of Valve, Oculus and Google, along with developers of games like Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption, will help to define the conference's program.

VRDC will continue to have a presence at the larger Game Developers Conference, which returns in February 2017. We covered the inaugural virtual reality show at this year's GDC; check out some of our coverage for a sense of what that was like.
