Sony's twin-stick shooter MOBA, Kill Strain, coming to PS4 in July

Human-on-mutant action goes live next month

Kill Strain, the competitive, team-based twin-stick shooter from Sony's San Diego Studio, is coming to PlayStation 4 on July 19, the developer announced on the PlayStation Blog today. PlayStation Plus subscribers will get access to the game a week early on July 12.

First announced at 2014's PlayStation Experience, Kill Strain pits two teams of four players, as the Mercs, against each other and a third team of one or two mutants. The mutant team can turn Mercs into mutants to expand their numbers, and battles will end when all humans have been turned into mutants; either the human or mutant base is destroyed; or the creeping titular Strain takes over the map.

Sony San Diego, which is best known for its work on MLB The Show and The Mark of Kri, calls Kill Strain one of Sony's service-based games, alongside the already available Guns Up! and the forthcoming Drawn to Death.

Kill Strain is currently playable in a closed beta.
