The new Ghostbusters theme features Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott, and sadness

It's, uh, well, it's something

The new Ghostbusters theme, which sounds like a half-baked attempt to quasi-cover the original theme song, has arrived.

Featuring pop-punk band Fall Out Boy and hip-hop icon Missy Elliott, the song is essentially a cover of the original Ray Parker Jr. track from the 1984 film, but with a modern twist. For example, Fall Out Boy slows down the main composition and the pace of the verses, while Missy Elliotr delivers a short rap in the middle of the track.

The full song can be heard in the video above, but it's up to you if you want to go down that path. Full warning: Once you hear the song, you can never unhear it. Still, it's not quite as terrible as Vanilla Ice's infamous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 song, "Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!"

Ghostbusters, which stars Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig, will be released July 15.
