Adventures of Mana arrives as a surprise for Vita fans

Square Enix is looking out for you, guy

Square Enix brought the PlayStation Vita version of the Adventures of Mana remake stateside today, months after promising fans that it would look into localizing the handheld port. The game is now available on the PlayStation Store for $13.99.

The surprise release comes nearly five months after the enhanced Adventures of Mana — formerly known out West as Final Fantasy Adventure — launched on iOS and Android. Japanese fans, however, had the option to play the game on Vita upon its initial release.

"When Adventures of Mana was originally released, a lot of PS Vita owners were disappointed that we couldn't launch it worldwide at the time," wrote Dan Seto, a community manager for Square Enix, on the PlayStation Blog. The publisher acknowledged the complaints on its Twitter, writing in February that it was investigating a stateside release of the Vita port.

Those who held out hope to play the classic role-playing game — which comes with revamped 3D visuals, new controls and added content — on Sony's handheld only have themselves to thank, Seto wrote.

"I'm really happy to let you guys know that your voices were heard and the team is really happy to bring Adventures of Mana to the PS Vita community and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Mana series with you all," he said.
