Sony dropping Ustream from PS4

Live from PlayStation is changing

Ustream

PlayStation 4 owners will soon have fewer options for broadcasting gameplay from their consoles. Sony confirmed in a support notice that Ustream will no longer be available as a streaming option as of Aug. 1, 2016.

After Aug. 1, PS4 owners will no longer have the option to broadcast via Ustream. Users also won’t have the option to watch Ustream broadcasts via Live from PlayStation on PS4, PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation App.

Sony says it will continue to support other available streaming options: Twitch, YouTube and Dailymotion.

Support for Ustream broadcasting was confirmed when the PS4 was officially unveiled in 2013. Ustream support via the PS4’s Share button was available at the console’s launch. Sony added Dailymotion and YouTube streaming support in 2015.

Ustream was often a haven for PS4 owners who preferred to broadcast streams from Sony’s The Playroom, after other streaming services clamped down on (often risqué) nongaming content.
