First trailer for DreamWorks’ Trolls wants you to find your happy place

Another animated movie about experiencing feelings

DreamWorks Animation has released the first trailer for its upcoming Trolls movie, a film inspired by the iconic toys made popular in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

The film stars Justin Timberlake as a sad, mopey troll named Branch who’s tasked with helping the obnoxiously happy Poppy, voiced by Anna Kendrick, save a group of trolls who have been kidnapped by an evil group of giants called Burgens. Through their travels, it looks like Poppy will learn that not everything can be perfect all of the time and Branch will discover that there’s happiness in even the darkest of corners.

If that sounds at all familiar, it’s because it’s the exact message and theme that’s been presented to audiences in the last couple of animated movies, the most recent one being Angry Birds. One of the biggest differences the film will have, however, is a wide musical scope that will get extra emphasis throughout. Timberlake was brought on as the Executive Music Producer for the project, and worked with each of the stars to make the film’s music feel as funky and organic as possible.

Trolls, which also stars Russell Brand, James Corden and Zooey Deschanel, is set to hit theaters Nov. 4.
