Paramount Pictures announced today that Sir Anthony Hopkins would join Mark Wahlberg in Michael Bay's newest Transformers movie, The Last Knight.
The studio announced Hopkins' casting through a tweet on the official Transformers account, welcoming the celebrated actor to the franchise. The studio did not specify which character Hopkins would be playing — or if it would be a voice role — but said the legendary Academy Award-winning actor was on board.

A couple of weeks ago, Paramount confirmed that Josh Duhamel would reprise his franchise role as Major Lennox, one of the members of the core team surrounding the transforming, mechanical superheroes. As previously mentioned, Wahlberg will also star in the film, reprising his role from the fourth installment, and Bay is set to direct once again.
Transformers: The Last Knight is slated to be released sometime in 2017.
