Splatoon's final multiplayer event asks players to make the toughest call

Best friends will be torn apart

Nintendo announced that it will host just one more Splatfest for Splatoon, its ink-based shooter on Wii U. The limited-time, team-based, themed events will end their yearlong run at 2 a.m. on July 24. This time, the choices are especially hard: Players must side with either Callie or Marie, the lovable hosts of the two-day tournaments.

The Squid Sisters are Splatoon's mascots, earning their own amiibo figures and performing in several, real-life concerts. For players to have to choose between them is almost cruel; although they have distinct personalities and diverse interests, Callie and Marie always stand united, cheering the player on together.

Starting at 7 p.m. PT on July 4, Splatoon fans must fight through their guilt to choose a side. The Splatfest kicks off July 22 and 2 a.m. PT.
