Netflix confirms we're binging Breaking Bad way more than Arrested Development

The Bluth family remains strong in our hearts

Netflix is notorious for not releasing statistics on their shows, so the only way anyone knows if it's successful is through critical reception, the amount of press dedicated to covering it and statements from Netflix that essentially say, "It's doing really well!"

While the streaming service hasn't released any statistics on which shows subscribers are choosing to binge watch most frequently, they did put together a list of shows that users spend more than two hours on in one sitting and which shows users spend less than two hours watching. The study was conducted by a team at Netflix who examined the viewing habits of people in 190 different countries with 100 different serialized series.

Shows classified as thrillers — which include The Fall, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Bates Motel, The Following, The Killing and Breaking Bad — were what most users devoured. According to Netflix, most people who watch thrillers will devour an entire season, which can span anywhere from 10 to 22 hour-long episodes, in about a week.

On the other side of the equation, irreverent comedies were the type of shows subscribers seemed to spend the least amount of time with. These included shows like Arrested DevelopmentBoJack HorsemanLoveWet Hot American Summer and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Netflix released an official Binge Scale, which can be seen below, but in-between irreverent comedies and thrillers, shows grouped under crime dramas, political dramas, superhero shows, action and adventure, science fiction and horror were also listed.
