Today marks a full week since Pokémon Go’s release, and Boston’s Pokémaniacs have been hard at work mapping out all the Pokémon in Bean Town.
Google maps for Pokémon Go have been popping up around the country, with most showing locations for Pokéstops and Gyms. But Boston’s map, called "Gotta Catch’em All," is the densest map we’ve seen specifically for catching Pokémon.
The map already contains more than 500 spots where certain Pokémon are confirmed to have been caught, and users can filter Pokémon by rarity. There are also markers for rumored sightings and high-traffic lures.
Aside from its practical use for catching strategies, the map provides interesting insight into where certain Pokémon choose to hang out. For example, there are quite a few Squirtles waddling around Harvard — who’d have thought those tiny turtles were studious types?
The map’s permissions are set to private, but any Pokémon Go players in the Boston area are free to request access to the map and add hotspots themselves.
