After months of rumors that Apple was looking to get into creating and distributing its own television content, the company has posted an open casting call for a reality TV show it's working on, according to 9 to 5 Mac.
Planet of the Apps will focus on a group of developers all competing for a spot to show off their app to some of the top venture capitalists and possibly secure a $10 million investment. In order to find contestants, the Apple team will be hosting meetings — similar to auditions on other reality TV series — in New York City, Los Angeles, Austin and, of course, San Francisco. Those selected for the show will be partnered up with mentors from Apple who will help oversee the design and completion of their app if they make it to the final round. The winning team will also have their app prominently displayed in the app store.
According to a press release for the show, Apple consultant and creative director of innovation for Intel, will.i.am., will also have a hand in the project. Digital firm Product Hunt and studio Propgate will team with Apple to develop the show and find the developers that will star in the series' first season.
Those looking to sign up to apply can do so here but they must be 18 years of age and have designs for an iOS, macOS, watchOS or tvOS app.
