Here is a heartbreaking look at remastered Metal Gear Solid scenes — on a slot machine

Konami re-renders Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater ... for pachinko

Metal Gear Solid fans, if you wish to see some key scenes from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as remastered in the Fox Engine, here's a video for you, but I warn you, it will take a big ol' poo all over your hopes and love for the franchise.

That's because this is for the Metal Gear Solid 3 slot machine, which along with mobile titles form's Konami's new cash-grab strategy. Some have fervently speculated in social media that the depth and quality of the scenes could mean this cabinet is a tease for a full video game remaster on consoles. Perhaps, but when in the past 16 months has Konami showed it cares at all for its console constituency?

Still others think that Konami had dialed up an MGS3 remaster but when everything went south with Hideo Kojima, Kojima Productions, and just about everyone who makes any video game anyone would care about, repurposed the assets for a pachinko machine. Konami has said it intends to keep making games under the Metal Gear franchise even absent Kojima, but that's a boilerplate statement that means nothing without some title announced, and none has been.

The YouTube page for this video continues the tradition of Metal Gear fans pouring out their anger at Konami for effectively mothballing their beloved. It's amassed more than 4,600 dislikes and counting, and the comments are about what you would expect. "What a waste of good fucking technology," says the most upvoted comment.
