Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

The first episode in Batman: The Telltale Series premieres Aug. 2, Telltale Games announced today. The studio's episodic treatment of the Caped Crusader's story will launch on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Mac, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, iOS and Android.

Telltale introduces Batman fans to the series with the above debut trailer. This figures to be an action-packed story delivering what Bat-fans would expect in the franchise, but not without a generous set-up of story, characters and their motivations first.

Veteran video games voice actor Troy Baker gets his first crack at the Bruce Wayne/Batman role. He's joined by Enn Reitel as Alfred Pennyworth, Travis Willingham as Harvey Dent/Two-Face; Richard McGonagle as Carmine Falcone, Erin Yvette as Vicki Vale, Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Murphy Guyer as Lt. Jim Gordon.

Batman: The Telltale Series will launch in digital storefronts first and then be joined in September by a retail release entitling buyers to all five of the series' episodes as they launch. The physical release, called the Season Pass Disc, will cost $29.99.
