The team at GSC Game World, makers of the STALKER franchise, have announced a release date for the reboot of Cossacks, their hit real-time strategy series. Cossacks 3 will return to Windows PC on Sept 20, published at retail by Koch Media and CDP.pl, a distribution company related to CD Projekt. We’ve also learned the team expects the Steam version of the game to be live that same day.
Originally launched in 2000, Cossacks is a real-time strategy series that portrays a distinct version of 17th and 18th century organized military conflict. The franchise is well known for the number of combatants that are shown on screen, often in the thousands. Cossacks 3 will allow up to 10,000 soldiers to square off at launch. Players will be able to take on the role of 12 different nations with 70 different unit types across five historical campaigns. There will also be multiplayer, supporting up to eight players.
GSC's press representative told Polygon that the Cossacks 3 Steam page should be live any day now with more details on the digital release.
