Try Metroid Prime: Federation Force's multiplayer for free right now

Hop in your mech and play ball

A multiplayer demo for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title Metroid Prime: Federation Force is now live on the Nintendo eShop.

The demo includes the game’s competitive multiplayer mode, Blast Ball, where two teams of three players don mech suits to shoot a giant ball into their opponents’ goal. The mode was unveiled at last year’s Nintendo World Championships event at E3 2015.

Federation Force is the upcoming Metroid spinoff from Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon developer, Next Level Games. The game will feature both single-player and cooperative elements and have players take control of a Galactic Federation marine, rather than series protagonist Samus Aran.

Next Level Games has also released new footage of the game's cooperative mode, which you can view above.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force launches for 3DS on Aug. 19.
