Kojima Productions mascot Ludens getting its own action figures

Hideo Kojima's new company, the reborn Kojima Productions, unveiled its official mascot earlier this year. Named Ludens, the skull-faced space explorer was said to embody the "frontier spirit" of the new Kojima Productions. Now, Ludens has his own pair of action figures.

Kojima Productions and toymakers 1000 Toys and Good Smile Company unveiled the Ludens figures at San Diego Comic-Con this week. 1000 Toys' version is a more high-end, more realistic interpretation of the character. It comes with light-up LEDs and is expected to retail for hundreds of dollars. (1000 Toys is a subsidiary of major Japanese toymaker Sentinel.)

Good Smile Company will also release a Ludens figure as part of its Nendoroid line. The Nendoroid Ludens is a cuter take on the space explorer and will probably be much more affordable. Kojima and Good Smile Company have worked together in the past; Nendoroid versions of Solid Snake and Venom Snake were released over the past few years.
