Almost two years after its Japan debut, Yakuza 0 will launch in North America and Europe on Jan. 24, Sega announced today.
Yakuza 0, for PlayStation 4 only, takes the player to the decadence of Tokyo in the late 1980s and is set up as a prequel to Sega's action-brawler gangster franchise. It launched in Japan in March 2015.
The story follows protagonist Kiryu as he rises through the Dojima crime family. When he's sent to collect a debt and fails, all hell breaks loose.
Sega of America is handling the localization. The launch here will allow players, "for the first time in a numbered [Yakuza] game," to play as the eccentric Goro Majima, a longtime NPC.
