Batman: The Killing Joke is the next film to come out of Warner Bros. animation department, and with its release less than a month away, DC has released a new clip.
In the scene, which starts four minutes into the video, Batman (voiced by Kevin Controy) can be seen confronting Joker (voiced by Mark Hamill) about a series of murders that have taken place in Gotham and that fit the deranged clown's m.o. During his conversation with Joker, Batman says that eventually, one of them will have to kill the other.
"This is life or death! Mine or yours," Batman says at one point. "Our relationship is fatal."
The film is based on Alan Moore's controversial comic of the same name from 1988 and is regarded as the quintessential origin story for Gotham's most iconic villain. The story goes back and forth between the Joker's origin tale and modern-day Gotham, but there are certain events that occur within The Killing Joke that would go on to have repercussions in other Batman stories.
The R-rated film will make its debut at San Diego Comic-Con on July 23. It will then be released digitally on July 26 and on Blu-ray Aug. 2.
