Superhero anime One-Punch Man coming to Adult Swim

The hero for fun has his English debut

This past weekend at Anime Expo, Viz Media announced that their acclaimed anime One-Punch Man will receive an English-language dub, premiering July 16 on Adult Swim.

The series, which initially began as a webcomic, parodies many tropes of superhero and martial arts anime like Dragon Ball Z. Set in an alternate Japan populated by superheroes and constantly under attack by hideous monsters, One-Punch Man's titular hero is Saitama, a superhuman who can defeat any opponent with a single blow. Saitama is plagued by constant boredom because of his ability to easily vanquish foes, and describes himself as "just a guy who's a hero for fun."

Throughout last fall, all episodes of One-Punch Man were available to stream with English subtitles on the same day the Japanese versions aired on TV. The series premiere on Adult Swim will mark the first time these episodes have been released with English voice acting.

Max Mittelman, who has provided voices for Sword Art Online 2 and recent Gundam series, as well as video games like Fire Emblem FatesBravely Second: End Layer and Fallout 4, will star as Saitama. Joining him will be Zach Aguilar as Saitama's disciple Genos, Robbie Daymond as fellow hero Mumen Rider and Erik Kimerer as Saitama's self-proclaimed rival, Speed-o'-Sound Sonic.

Mob Psycho 100, a horror comedy webcomic and manga series by One-Punch Man creator One, will also be receiving an anime this month and will premiere in Japan on July 12.
