System Shock, the remake of the landmark 1994 title, has hit its funding goal of $900,000 this morning. There are 19 days left in the game's Kickstarter campaign, which promises to deliver the game by the end of next year.
If another $200,000 is raised, then versions for Mac and Linux PCs will be developed, in addition to the Windows PC and Xbox One editions currently under development by Nightdive Studios, which acquired the franchise rights last year.
System Shock recently added a $100 funding tier and this art book of the series as a premium for backing at that level. The more than 2,000 backers who pledged at levels above $100 will be given the book retroactively if a stretch funding goal is met.
Corrections: An earlier version of this story mis-titled the project. It is System Shock. Additionally, the art book offered at the $100 backing level will be given retroactively if an overall stretch goal is met. The post above has been edited to make these corrections.
