Gwent: The Witcher Card Game’s closed beta will have to wait another month

Your next chance to play may be October

The closed beta for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is being pushed from its planned September release and will launch instead on Oct. 25, CD Projekt Red announced today.

The beta was originally announced at Microsoft’s E3 press conference this past June, confirming a trademark filing discovered earlier that month. The game is a stand-alone spinoff of a popular minigame in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The company still plans to have Gwent hands-on at Gamescom next week.

Gwent has already seen a physical release in the form of card decks, albeit exclusive to the Xbox One Collector’s Edition of The Witcher 3. Dark Horse Comics also plans to release an art book for Gwent and an 8.5-inch bust of Witcher protagonist Geralt of Rivia, both on Feb. 21, 2017.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will launch first on Windows PC and Xbox One, with a PlayStation 4 version to follow. Until then, players can still sign up for the closed beta on PC and Xbox One.
