Try Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Spirit of Justice before September launch

Court is about to be in trial session

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Spirit of Justice arrives on the Nintendo 3DS eShop on Sept. 8, Capcom announced today, but fans of the courtroom drama series can demo the game shortly before release. A free trial version will launch on Aug. 25, also exclusively on the eShop.

What to expect from Phoenix Wright’s latest legal adventure can be seen in the new trailer above. There are plenty of supernatural happenings afoot, providing for just another average day at the courthouse. Each of the characters has their own unique abilities to aid and abet the lawyer’s quest to find the "spirit of justice"; some of the people called to the stand can uncover witnesses’ true emotions, while other helping hands are forensic specialists.

Spirit of Justice plays up the supernatural angle by pitting Phoenix Wright against the denizens of a divine land, where many of the lawyers he’s contending with have mysterious special powers. It’s a departure from his last game to hit stateside, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which teamed him up with Level-5's puzzle-solving super sleuth in a unique crossover. American fans haven’t seen Phoenix star in his own game since the 2014 release, however.

All will be revealed on Sept. 8. We spoke to some of the team behind Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Spirit of Justice at E3 2016; those who can’t wait should check that out for more on why the stars of the new game can't stand lawyers.
